Welcome Address; Acknowledgement of Country

We pay our respects to Traditional Owners of the land on which we are based in Naarm (Melbourne); the Wurundjeri and neighbouring Boonwurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation, the continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country, and we pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. Thereafter, Quang Nguyen and Kristy Feng will be our hosts for the day, setting the context for our conference theme and format. They will share their perspectives on the future of their careers and technology, as well as their hopes and dreams for the future of work.

Defying Convention - Career Pathways Panel

Deeds will continue the moderation with three esteemed panellists from different walks of life: Joy Horng from BCG X, Sylvia Soo from Australian Youth Climate Coalition and Ally Atmadja from we are your friends. Join us for a continued morning of motivation and empowerment from our panel of ex-international students who have charted their own roads to success. In tribute to a narrative poem by Robert Frost, we'll get to hear about how they venture unique avenues beyond traditional pathways, delving into their personal journeys and sharing the triumphs and challenges they encountered along the way. They will speak to how they have leveraged their international experiences, skills, adaptability, and resilience to navigate unexplored pathways and make meaning for themselves.

Co-Design Session

Join our dynamic co-design session with Pearl Li Ng, the Head of Smart City, Improvement and Innovation from the City of Casey and a team of facilitators from the City of Melbourne to master the art of crafting a personalised statement that resonates with future employers. Tailored for students with global experience and transferrable skills, this interactive workshop serves to help you create a concise bio adaptable across professional contexts such as LinkedIn, personal pitches, cover letters, and CVs. Guided by facilitative questions, we'll leverage design thinking principles through design canvas prototyping and assumption testing. Develop a personal statement that truly represents your unique journey while connecting with like-minded international students who share your ambitions or diverse interests.
